The 3rd Art Blog

        Artists Take Risks
For the style project, I decided to try using a different media for my art inspiration. I decided to use more of the Vera Bradley/ Lily Pulitzer style instead of an artist that paints or draws. It is more difficult to recreate without prints, and I picked a material I have not used or tried to recreate before. I tried to pick something that hadn't really been done before and that was different, hopefully the final product will turn out well.

        Artists Solve Problems
With the land or sky project, the first picture of the butterfly was what I was going to do originally, but I did not like it as much as I wanted to. Then we were told that we had to do two sketches for each theme, two for land and two for sky. I ended up doing the phoenix and liking it even more, and it eventually became the final product. I solved problems by creating something because we had to and ended up liking it even more than what I was going to do originally.

         Artists Develop Art Making Skills
More with the land and sky project; I used oil pastels for this project, which I don't use very often. I learned how to get them to look very bright and well blended with the burnishing technique. I also used what we learned about color to decide not to mix the blue and yellow/ orange and make more colors seem vibrant with no brown or green between the bird and the sky.
